Gmail contacts correct but phone ones mixed up

I'm trying to help someone out with this phone. When some people call him, the wrong name comes up. I looked in his contacts and the name that came up did in fact show that number in the list for that person, however it should not be there. I took a look at the contacts in Gmail where it syncs from and everything looks correct there.

How can I force the phone to purge out its contacts and reload them from Gmail?
