Gmail/Google wants my date of birth

[Android Central Question]

Gmail/Google Play services wants my birthday "to comply with the law". Anyone know if it's really required? Below is the notice received on my Android tablet:

"Add your birthday

johndoe@gmail.com

Your date of birth is missing. This info is needed to comply with the law.

Month
Day
Year

This won't make your birthday public
Your age may be used for personalization across Google, including to make the ads you see more relevant to you."

Well I will chat again sometime today but let's look at the problem notification is goggle service coming from Google play store under manage account
Not actually Google account which I manually put it from computer
So my question is if next time it does comes up and click page won't load that said enter of birth when click wfi or mobile data that used ro come up before I manually put it in Google account computer
What should I do click on manage account inside Google play store swipe it thar has 4 dots
Check see if date of birth is there or not, If there just ignore I guess?
In your humble opinion do you think I did screw up should had did it on phone instead computer perhaps would had stop notify me meh.
I don't even know if If will ever stop notify me btw

I looked in my Google account on the phone , I never set up.my birthday , so maybe try that .

i'll prob do it next time it notify me and stupid page loads nothing happens i went planet fitness this afternoon did alot sore and too tired chat with google play store right now

i just don't understand if i manually put it on computer going in google account why heck did it still notify me yesterday<-and page refuse to load home wifi or using mobile data yet it did numerous times in the past before recently put date of birth in google account computer thinking it will stop very odd i bet its still in there i just dread have to click on manage your google account under google play store account that hads 3 dots saying get started meh

I finally gave in after the relentless pop ups came back again after a 2 week vacation. I was worried about ID theft, so I put a different date in. Google then asked me to confirm that I was 94 years old, I said yes and that's been that for the last 10 days or so. (I'm not, and had the one account for 9 years so yes it probably knows)

yes so you now you guys know what i'm talking about but its still a mystery onto why i did get notify other day if i manually put it in on computer but yet pop up didn't load and close again if i would had done what you done it prob would not notify me anymore

so if it does notify me again 1 day this week and i click on it page won't load do you think it's a glitch or do i need to click on manage account into play store and check see if its actually there if not i guess put it in the will stop?

if i would turn back time i would had just did that last week and never try to input it google account via computer i don't know why notify's on phones meh

I think I understand you. I didn't screenshot that request from Google to confirm that I was 94 after I filled out that box, but I attach similar shots to others below.
So you cannot reach that stage as the date entry screen won't accept your DOB, possibly because you entered it manually on your accounts Personal Info page in the meantime, and now you're still stuck with constant pop ups.
It was the constant intrusion that annoyed me more than worrying about ID information, as it interrupted me using the phone.

If it is any help, I never entered my date in to my Google account Personal Info page,

but I see just now the date I put in on that entry screen after opening the pop - is now also showing on my Google account.

I don't know how the Play Store is concerned with you.

I changed my visible name last year from my real name as on my Gmail address, to a username, so I now have a P instead of a T as the icon for my account.

Not sure how I can help with your issue, if I fully understand it. Are you sure when you log back in to your Google account your DOB is still there?

Hopefully the pop up notifications will give in eventually and stop, if it's the same account otherwise.

(I see on the DOB entry it was saying it could not update, try again. I don't remember but it accepted it eventually.)

yeah after i swipe it on this phone past week i decided to go into firefox on computer and went into account under date of birth put it in never did in past

then other day stupid pop up on phone google play store action require comes up instead when click on it that box would had load in past however because i did it computer not on phone it wouldn't load using home wifi or mobile data it would just close

i don't know if it will come back up again or not this coming up week i just want pop up go away so if it does come back up page don't load should i double check see if it's even in google account manage your account on playstore or should i just keep dismissing it

surely if manually did it computer account isn't going to get deleted or suspended eh

I can't see a way to reply to your private message, maybe because this is a new forum account.

I can't really assist or advise. I was in a similar quandary about whether to fill in a DOB.

I understand now you enter your Google account via the Play Store app, I use the Google app and also click on my name icon there, so same thing.

Do you now have that DOB on your (same) Google account when viewed on your phone, as well as via Firefox on a pc.

I can't know why you're still getting pop ups.
Maybe try completely logging out of your account and your phone, shut down, wait a bit or overnight if you can, and try again.

There are people who can give you better advise here abouts.

No I never did via Google play store again I just opened web browser Firefox on computer already log into Gmail and click on account date of birth in
Yes if I open chrome browser phone sinc already login I see it but if I click on Google play store manager account or Gmail app manage account
I get message welcome 3 dots and get started<-never did that before so not sure if it's in there or not

So you can't get in to your account on your phone via Google apps. Does it show your account in Chrome browser on your phone or Chrome on pc.

Log out of your Google account on Firefox, and check your phone Settings - Google / or Accounts and Sync on my Xiaomi phone.

I would start another / new thread here asking for help syncing your Google account across devices. I can't think of anything more to help at the moment, but I'm not as knowledgeable as members here.

I entered my birthday through the annoying pop up in notifications on my phone a few weeks back. I then logged in to my Google account through my browser on my PC & the birthday was there.

I don't think your account is in any jeopardy. You have entered your birthday. 'Maybe' the notification was corrupted somehow. Have you tried going into your Google app on your phone, then storage & clearing just the cache? Maybe something is just stuck.

However just like computer on Chrome browser app I'm logged into Gmail already when I click on manage account doesn't show that and I can go ahead look no issues
Nothing matter Google play store it downloads apps and updates sync just fine

That shouldn't be happening.
It sounds like a dual account, or a device recognition issue.

On your pc and the phone is your device showing under Google Account - Security - Your Devices?

Maybe it will clear up, but you have an ongoing syncing or other issue only highlighted by this DOB thing, which should have cleared when you agreed to fill it in.

There's a lot of good advice that members like @BerryBubbles can give,, see above, maybe in a different thread, because there's info missing and I'm rusty (at 94 I need oil) and generally talk rubbish.

well i check computer it also showing my old phone s7 after i upgraded s20 plus day before christmas last month it's still activated and its upstairs not using it besides windows
