First post out of desperation...I've been up all night for two days now and can't figure out how to solve a problem with a new GS3...

I HATE the "conversation" view in GMail that is installed with the phone, and it apparently cannot be toggled to "threaded" view. SO...I downloaded and installed K9 and spent a lot of time getting it configured. Great little application. But just when I thought everything was good, I realized I'm not getting new email notifications. I've checked all the obvious settings. I've tried every combination of turning GMail sync on/off as well as inside K9. GMail's notification is still working fine, but I cannot get neither sound nor LED notification to work with K9.

I am going insane with this, need notifications to work for my job Monday. Any help would be greatly appreciated....

I've never been able to get k9 mail to sync and notify properly on any of my phones.

Nope, Quiet Time is not on.

Update: I think I'm onto something...probably some subtle issue between GMail, Android and K9 that maybe some experts out there can easily explain...

I went ahead and tried selecting the outgoing message notification just to see what would happen, and that worked in terms of the sound and LED notifications. Although the LED stayed on instead of blinking. Then, it occurred to me that maybe the native GMail app and K9 are monitoring things differently. The way I've been testing notifications is to send an email to myself. The native GMail app notifies just fine in that scenario, however I get no notification with K9. HOWEVER, sure enough just now somebody else sent me an email and K9 notified me properly - but the LED stayed lit instead of blinking. Based on all this I believe there may be two separate issues going on here:

1) When the K9 notifications occur, the LED stay on (doesn't blink). Should I try the "blink" program I've been reading about or risk playing with the LED color or is there some other "fix" for this?

2) K9 must be triggering off something differently than the native GMail app. How is K9 determing a new message arrived or not? What is it watching for such that when I send an email to myself it will fail to notify, yet when an email from an outside 3rd party is received the notification then works?
