After spending yesterday setting up my 6Pro over from my P5 there were a lot of things that just didnt play well from the old phone to the new one.

One thing Ive noticed is that my Gmail just doesnt update until I go in and refresh it manually. My yahoo updates by its self however. I checked permissions and gmail has all options for working in the background and such.

Anyone else experiencing this?

No issues here. I didn't use the copy data feature when I upgraded from my pixel 5. I took the time to reinstall everything from scratch.

The thing is, I think everything pretty much did reinstall because there were 159+ apps being installed. The only stuff that copied over I think was basic stuff like pictures and settings.

Should work fine but I've had issues with older phones in the past that now I always do a fresh setup just in case. But yeah Gmail is fine for me.

Not quite as bad, but delayed (several minutes) notifications or not until I unlock P6. Changed Gmail app to no battery optimization and did this which helped....mostly......

On your phone:

Open Gmail App

Tap Three Bars in top left corner

Scroll to bottom and tap "Settings"

Tap "General settings"

Tap "Manage notifications"

Enable "All Gmail notifications"

Go back twice to "Settings" menu again

Tap your email address

Tap "Notifications"

Enable "All"

Tap "Inbox Notifications"

Enable "Label notifications"

Enable "Notify for every message"

Go back

Tap "Manage notifications"

Enable "Show notifications"

Enable "Pop on screen"

Thanks for all that. Everything was pretty much already set that way but I undid things and then checked them again. Hopefully it will work now. When I say my email is delayed, I mean by like hours!

Well, I crapped the bed with this one. I ended up trying to delete my google account entirely from my phone only to find that I need a security key to enable the account on my phone again. I do not have access to this security key. No clue how to get my google account back on my phone.

Great info, even for us still on an older Pixel having problems with the Andy 12 update.

You mean 2-factor authentication?

You're scrolling all the way down, right? What options do you have?

I only had two step verification. When I clicked on that I saw my Pixel 5 and previous Pixel 3XL as well as my laptop listed. I guess I need to be home with one of those items in order to get a security key. Actually, come to think of it, I think thats what happened when I was setting up my P5 as well. I needed my 3XL on and active to get the key for the P5. Ill just figure this out when I get home from work tonight. Good thing I still have both those previous phones if need be.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you only had two step verification. If you select the 2-Step Verification option in the Security menu, it should show you all of the various ways you can do 2-step, like Security Key, Google Prompts, Voice or Text Message, and Backup Codes. You don't see that?

This is what part of that menu looks like on my laptop browser:

That's strange. What if you turn off 2-step, and then set it up again, as Wiley_11 mentioned above?

I dont want to do anything while Im away from my home base with my backup phones. Ill see what happens when I get home tonight after work and try the two step security with the old phones right near the new one.

Looks to me like you need the Titan thingy to proceed.
