Gmail question.. maybe needs to be moved

If there is a better area that this should should been in, please move it.

I would like to have my Gmails sorted, if possible, into personal, business and medical, etc. Or, just personal and business if that's just the way it goes.

A Google search said go into the inbox and the drop down menu to advanced... Etc... But there is no advanced option. Dead end.

Any help is appreciated, greatly.

Are these Labels you've created? The only default system Labels that Gmail has are Primary, Promotions, Social, Updates, and Forums.

I see inbox, personal, receipts and work. I can use those. I didn't know how to create others. But, when I just change the label, it only means I have to manually move every single email myself. They still all arrive into the one primary inbox.

Did you create those labels, or were they already there when you first started using this Gmail account? For labels you created, those won't be automatically sorted. The only automatic sorting I'm aware of is for the system inboxes of Primary, Promotions, Social, Updates, and Forums. (I probably referred to them incorrect as labels -- they're technically not labels, but can be perhaps called "sub-inboxes".)

EDIT: I learned that Gmail refers to those at "inbox categories."

I should have just simply googled how to make a filter for Gmail inbox. And, I wouldn't have bothered you, as it's very easy to make custom labels from the sender or category.

But, you have to tell your browser when using the phone to use the desktop version or use a PC. You cannot do it in the Android mobile app. That's what I wasn't aware of.

I've got filters set up, now, they have very specific labels so I can get my personal, business, medical, investments, taxes, etc , and didn't have to waste time trying to remember when, who, or where it originated from.

It wasn't hard, but just didn't realize the little tricks to HOW you get to the place where you can accomplish the customization.
