Gmail stops working immediately upon opening

While trying to remove the ""Congratulations" virus I force stopped Gmail. Now it keeps stopping immediately after opening it. Ive tried updates, clear cache, clear data, install from play store and nothing works Pls help! Should I go to Verizon? Throw it through a window? Kick it into traffic? (Moto Z Droid)

Welcome to Android Central! Does it work in Safe Mode? If so, then something else that's been installed is presumably interfering -- not sure if that would be related to the virus you mentioned.
