Gmail sync issue

Lately I've noticed an issue with gmail. If I get a new email, I get a notification, after reading, or deleting, I still get an unread count on launcher pro. The emails will show back up in my in box and are still located on gmail.com. If I delete the emails on gmail.com the unread count goes away. Got any ideas?
