gmail sync

i though gmail should push messages though constantly..i have to go into gmail and physically refresh to get them. how can i be notified automatically of new messages?

you have to change the auto sync in settings. settings - accounts & sync - background data/auto-sync should bothed be checked

i, along with most people, have auto sync and background turned off bc it drains your battery quick
