While not really a pixel issue, as I have had it on other Androids...

Does anyone else have Gmail suddenly restart an pull down all emails from the server as unopened emails?

I keep my messages on the server, and even though they are opened on the server. Gmail sees them as "new" emails when it restarts and shows them as unopened.

The pain, is that I cannot check all and change them to opened, I have to go down through everyone and mark it as opened.

No, sorry to have report but my Gmail for my personal email and my for work is syncing beautifully. Since when did you start experiencing this issue though?

That sounds to me like you either don't have IMAP support turned on for your Gmail account or the email client you are using is set to pop access.
