Has anyone on here heavily invested in Huaweis platform? I wanted to test the water and see if there is anyone who has a full HMS set up? I am tempted to get a matepad pro but I want to know what the experience is like using HMS across devices.

Also I have seen a lot of people mention they have sideloaded google on, has this allowed all GMS services to work?

Also what exactly is GMS and what does it do?

Personally I wouldn't recommend sideloading google play onto the phones I've heard this can cause issues, the phone is intended to work with HMS Huawei media services instead of Google Media Services (GMS). Certain apps need GMS to run like uber eats needs to connect to google maps for instance to work. I think it depends entirely what apps you're looking to use on the matepad, Huawei have their alternative for most google apps so most stuff is covered but some apps or games might not work due to their current dependence on GMS.

GMS is the development tools App designers and companies use instead of building their Apps from scratch they basically pay to rent those services from Google. Its pretty tricky of Google to offer the service because it creates a massive monopoly on Android. In a way its a good thing a company as big as Huawei has stopped using GMS as it means App developers now have a choice of who to go to when looking to get the resources they need to build their App.

I am seeing it as an investment as I know Huawei products last. Ive just pulled out a 7year ld Huawei phone which still works!! That being said I just hope more people invest in to it as its not the cheapest thing to buy!

This is one big reason I'm adamant in sticking with Huawei - can't beat the hardware!

I went and got the MatePad Pro off their website!! £500 with the keyboard AND pencil. Granted I don't use them all that much but that's the ultimate tablet set up!! I use theapencil for the game Draw Something!

You have a HMS phone don't you? How have they paired up?

I use Google Maps, Google Keep, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Google Contacts, Google Messages, and GMail on both my Huawei P30 Pro and my Chromebook. I enjoy being able to add a contact on my phone and have it automatically appear on my Chromebook or take a photo and have it on my Chromebook when I get home. If I delete an email off my phone it deletes off my Chromebook.

I can also tell my Google Home Mini to add milk to my Walmart shopping list and milk appears on my phone's shopping list. Or, if I set an alarm on my Chromebook it will sound on my phone, too.

I like the camera on the Huawei P30 Pro. If Pixel had the Huawei camera I'd switch back in a flash.

Am I correct that I lose all that hardware collaboration if I get a Huawei P40 Pro?

As this is a lot to answer and I don't use Google to that degree I will only answer the bits im confident about from my experience.

Google photos is still accessible, I have pinned this to my home screen so I can still access all my photos, I can if I want to choose the photos I want to I can select the photos I want and back it up to my google photos that way. Hpwever I use Huawei Cloud, that automatically backs them up.

Huwei cloud will also back up your contacts and you can sign in to Huawei cloud through a browser. My Gmail works too I just used Huaweis email app.

I am assuming you live in America? Would you just be importing the phone over?

This, is a great idea ha! Always thought I needed a pen to draw on that game, too hard with fingers ha!

How accurate is the pen? I would assume its high end..

Actually, I live in Mexico and they're selling the Huawei P40 Pro here. I'll probably stick with my Huawei P30 Pro. I'm happy with the cameras.
