Go for the Droid Turbo or stick with my Maxx?

Yes there is another board I posted it all inhttp://forums.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-turbo/455116-droid-turbo-battery-life-38.html

And I disagree on how the moto display is a major part of using the phone. All you need to do is simply press the power button and see what notifications you have. No need to have it turn in every time my hand goes near it. Also I am getting 48+ hours when my phone is at 35% battery left. That means if I was a average user with nothing disabled, I could still get the 48 hours. Being heavy user with apps disabled compensates for average use with nothing disabled. And also the minimal battery life gained from disabling g all those apps will not greatly impact battery life. I've tried them enabled too, they don't impact more than a percent. Its negligible.

If I ran the phone to 0% (which I wont do because its bad for this battery technology) I would get probably 3 days with heavy use.

It's Moto Actions that controls the screen turning on when you move near it, not Moto Display. Moto Display is a central reason to get a Moto phone. It allows you to see notification alerts and previews without lighting the whole screen. It's so good they copped it for Lollipop.

I don't want to be a **** about this, but you're making it sound as though it is "easy" and the norm to get 48 hours out of your phone and that is simply not true. That it's possible nobody is denying, but it requires some rather extreme compromises (for most folks...if they aren't compromises for you, great).

Like I said I have tried without disabling anything, moto apps dont use any significant battery use. It is easy to get 48 hours like they claim. Motorola stated with average use mixed with standby the phone will last 48 hours. Do you think motorola leaves GPS, wifi, sync and bluetooth on while they simulate a person sleeping, I bet not.

With no apps disabled and average use I got 70 hours of battery life. Im not trying to make it sound anything other than it is. Even without disabling any moto apps you can still get the 48 hours they claim and no its not hard. If you have facebook chat, instagram and 10 emails etc syncing all day and night, then you will drastically decrease your battery life.

I figure most folks want their smartphone to be smart. That is, they don't want to cripple things like push notifications (which you do by turning off WiFi and data at the same time). Again, if that works for you that's great, but some of the things you're talking about make your smartphone dumb.

Of course you should shut down the WiFi when you're away from a WiFi network, etc. That's a common thing to do, but essentially putting your phone in to deep sleep as a rule unless you're looking at it (which is how I read your description of what you do) is extreme for most folks.

You keep using terms like "average use" for things that aren't actually average use. I'm just trying to make sure anyone who is reading your comments understands the context. Especially if they're making a decision on getting the Turbo based in part on them.

Beyond that, live and let live.

Not a big fan of Edge plan. If you are month to month like I am, you should be getting (need to ask) a $25/month bill credit per line. So over a 2 year period, the phone will cost you $600, which is the retail price, but your month to month credit will drop to $15/line. So over a 2 year period, I will be losing/paying 24x$10 or $240 additional. The new turbo will be costing you $840 or $240 more vs buying it retail and keep the credit. I am looking at Turbo but very hesitant to move away from Maxx since battery life was awesome.

Your math is either awful or I'm missing something. If I receive a $25/ month credit on edge and a 64gb turbo costs $27/ month then the phone costs me $2 a month more than I was paying not being on edge. So over 2 years it only costs me $48. If I wasn't on edge and paid the upgrade price of $250 over 2 years that breaks down to about $10/ month. So edge actually saved me money.

You're missing something.

You can get the same $25/m discount if you are month to month, and not on the edge program. So the $25/m edge discount isn't "free" money. It could be in your pocket if you are on a month to month plan.

We have 9 people sharing 30GB of data, all month to month, and we each pay ~$29/m, total!

In regards to the Turbo battery life, after my first charge, I had 24% life left at the end of 3 days of use. I probably could have gotten a fourth day out of it, but wasn't going to push it. Granted, I am a light to moderate user.
