Hello,

I am getting my Evo today and wanted to know the best route to transfer my data from my Pre to the Evo. Since everything is in the cloud now how do I get my data on the Evo? From my understanding this has to be done at a Sprint store or Best Buy with the current software update on the machine that does the transfer? Is this correct? Also what data will NOT be transfered ( pics,memos,calendar..etc).

thanks in advance,
-Mike

I came from ATT and a Bold and an Iphone to my New Evo, I personally transferred all my contacts via bluetooth, I basically just connected both devices together and hit transfer contacts from my berry, the EVO recieved a file, I opened the file and it was all loaded in....as for pictures and things like that I would connect the Palm to a pc and transfer files to a folder there and just transfer them onto the EVO that way....Hope that helps!

Personally I would leave as little up to Sprint as possible. I would transfer as much as I can on my own. Anything on the USB drive of your phone (pics, videos, etc.) I would just copy them and save them on a location on your computer. The following is a thread that you can use to get your contacts just in case.

When I switched to the Pre last June, Sprint's system could only transfer the first 100 contacts or so. I wouldn't recommend leaving it up to them. Hopefully they can transfer memos and calendar items because it sounds like your calendar is on your palm profile. You might want to strike up a chat with Palm and see if there is a way to export those two items for backup purposes.

I download the patch to export all contacts as a vcf file. I then imported that in to my Google contacts. When I got my Evo, I entered my Google information and everything automatically downloaded.

Thanks for the replies. I think i will try and do as much as possible. Also i checked my preferences and i have 4 accounts listed (Palm, Facebook,Google and Where(ulocate - not sure what this is). However my default Calendar is gmail or google i should say.
