I like the apps. But I thought we could tabcast from our devices. I don't see any options on Nexus 7, iPhone 4S/5 or ipad.
Seems a little odd based of the c-cast website. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I just started a post similar to yours. There wasn't any mention concerning using a tablet or phone. I think that should have been an option prior to a PC or Mac.

How were you deceived? They never said anything about tabs from Android devices. In fact, they EXPLICITLY stated Chrome on the Desktop. Think the topic title needs some adjustment.

Judging by how my machine chugs, and literally gets hot when tab/desktop casting...I think its fair to say that our tablets and phones cant handle that Chromecast feature. The way I understand it the tab casting feature works differently than the app casting stuff. Its very network and CPU intensive.

You weren't deceived, just did not pay attention - as indeed I did not. The launch, promotional site, etc. only show a desktop Chrome casting tabs from a browser. Hopefully this will be resolved over time. As the other poster notes, actually streaming video of any quality on the LAN is likely to be too much from the android device, but just grabbing the gallery, or showing static images would be 'easy' on the network. Let's see what the devs build for it - which ever way you look at it, the price is pretty decent for a wireless received for the TV ($11 after Netflix is netted out).

For starters, the tab casting from Chrome browsers is prominently labeled BETA, as in there are going to be bugs and things needing polishing. When the demoed casting from devices, they only showed APPS like YouTube, Netflix and Google Play. Other apps will build in casting abilities - notably HBO GO and Hulu+. App devs are already scrambling to get their apps working with 4.3 and the Chromecast has been out two freaking weeks, so to claim that you were deceived because you imagined it would just automagically mirror your phone to your TV is silly. Put it on Craig's List - people who understand what it is will take it off your hands.

I really don't understand the sense of entitlement people have when something doesn't do what it was never promised to do. When the Kindle Fire was announced, they clearly said what it was, but when it actually arrived, people filled their diapers over how it didn't so something or lacked a feature. "The Fire sucks! It doesn't have camera or GPS or a plate which will keep my coffee warm and my beer cold! I was lied to!!!" Uh, where did you get the idea that any of those features were going to be in there? "Amazon sucks! This product is gimped!!!"
