Good idea to do factory reset?

Personally, unless you are experiencing issues i don't see a reason to perform a factory reset.

Usually no - the update deletes any files it's going to replace. Clearing the system cache, though (in Recovery), is a good idea.

Actually the update deletes the cache. That's why it rebuilds on first boot.
I found this to be the best update I've experienced. I absolutely needed to do one after each update on my LGs.

I did a factory reset after the update, more out of habit than anything else. I agree it's probably not necessary though.

Just wondering -- do you know that for certain? I ask because I've seen issues crop up after system updates that improved after a cache partition wipe.

What you're referring to sounds like the Dalvik cache, which makes sense: http://www.urtech.ca/2015/09/solved...ion-do-on-android-devices-like-the-galaxy-s6/. But does it apply to the system cache partition as well?
