god, i been trying to root my elite on virgin all friggin night.....reading forum after forum on every way possible to do this.'
and after maby tries i finally got my msl from virgin, so i thought... finnaly i can get to doing something productive....yeah right.
I downloaded the different tools i keep reading about and they just wont install, i got 4918 spywares from the links, crashed my laptop , cant see the com port numbers, cant get anything to work....so i give the hell up...i mean wtf. comeone... isnt there a SIMPLE way to root this phone? this is my first real phone, after suffering years with the crap little flip phones, the best being the razr., i got this elite... i love it but id like to root it, i really would love to set it up, overclock, and blah bla blahh.
is there anyone i can just take it to or a simple file to just download and have an autorun kinda deal?
im not computer illiterate, by anymeans, but jesus . this si a f.n joke....my laptop is some pos vaio., now after downloading android kits and trying to even see the phone as more than a sd drive on my ;laptop im becoming an angroid witht he android. seriously i have clue where to start....i want to be able to just start, follow the tutorial, and finish.....instead im just having one prob after another.....i goes about like this....step one is to do such n such,,,,i try....my computer does nothing like what yall sayin....thats is far as i get....starting in download mode....nothing after that works.mabey is just my peice of crap vaio....now with a tone of malware from developer kits.

Yeah I feel you. I hate downloading a bunch of unofficial software. I didn't realize LG would make rooting so complex

I have two suggestions that could help you a lot. First, clean out your computer, get rid of all of the malware / spyware you've contracted, you say you're not computer illiterate, so depending on the type of infection, it could be easier just to use any factory reset disc that came with your PC, or just re-installing Windows itself. That's up to you.

After your PC is running smooth again, come back, and tell us exactly what kinds of problems you are having, with detailed descriptions of your errors, screenshots, etc...be as detailed as possible, so someone can give you some information on how to troubleshoot your issues.

Also since the elite is so new there aren't many developers on this just yet. Just be patient it will happen otherwise buy an optimus v

I'm gonna try to follow the how to again not to try to root, but to see if I get better result finding the device and com info.if so I may re try.I love this phone, it's really nice, fast, had better games than my old vaio....but I'd love to have true control of my device...I payed for it so why not really own it?
So what all do I really need to root, such as files and programs? I called virgin and tried the error 67 sorry and they wanted to give me a three digit number, so I said, just give me the msl, so I can quit calling...she said fine.lol

i said forget it pretty much..for now. most of the download links for the rooting files are on shady file hosts that are loaded with adware,etc and most of the links are dead on the file hosts. if i do manage to get ahold of valid links i will host the files on my 4shared or fileden account. unreal.

I got the files now but had to be very careful of how I did it to avoid the spyware...but now my PC will not find the USB parallel dongle so I guess I have to find a PC that allies me top use the cable thus came with the phone to use USB as a com Port....what a pita
