Android Central Question

I originally usedSasung built-in player, until they discontinued it. Then ‘AMP’ but it’s confusing interface and often not able to play files you know are there.
I moved to ‘Music Player’ initially it was fine, but now plays adverts and videos at really annoying intervals .. and you can’t quit them.

Can anyone recommend a good free basic MP3 player

Welcome to the forums!

Samsung has a nice free music player in their Galaxy Store called Samsung Music Player. I've beening using it for years & do not receive any ads.

It has tabs across the top to sort by Playlists, Albums, Artists, Favorites, Folders, Tracks, Artist, Genre, Composer, Spotify. You can disable any of those tabs if you don't need them. I don't have Spotify, so I toggled it off, along with Composer & Genre. You can also sort the tab order. It's very easy to create playlists. Support for .mp3, .flac & other formats. There's probably other features, but I just use the basics. It might be worth looking at.
:)

Another long-standing app of good renown which is the one I use is VLC.

That said, I mainly play music using Smart Audiobook Player as it suits my constant stop / go usage as a multi-drop delivery driver better but lack some features of a dedicated music player app, notably playlist management (it simply uses folders as books/albums and files as chapters/tracks).
