I've been eyeballing the Note 5 over the past month and have been seriously giving it consideration. I had a Note 4 but sold it because of the lag I experienced only a week into owning it (I didn't immediately get rid of it but the lag was something I noticed not too far in after owning it). I loved almost everything else about it. I'm now looking to give it another shot but does it make sense to grab one now! How far out is the 6? I don't really follow Samsungs product announcement as I do Apple's (easy now...).

Thanks for your help!

The note 6 is still pretty far out. The new galaxy will be announced soon but not the note. The note 5 is a fantastic device! You should totally go for it!

I think it's a great device! Definitely worth the purchase in my opinion. Aside from the absence of removable battery and the SD card, I think the Note 5 beats the Note 4 in every way. I have never experienced lag on my Note 5, it runs smooth and perfect. I couldn't ask for more in a phone. Back when I had my S5, I got rid of it because the amount of lag it had. It was awful. I debated between staying with Samsung or switching to an LG or iPhone (Which would be hard since I'm a die hard android fan). I'm so glad I stayed with Samsung. Hands down best phone of 2015/16 in my honest opinion. You might need a case for this one, the glass can be pretty slippery and fragile feeling, but I prefer it to the plastic of before. I wish you luck with your decision!

It's a fantastic phone, I've never owned an S5 (though I did own the S3 and S4) but it might have lagged due to TouchWiz which has been improved on the Note 5. I always use Apex launcher regardless of what phone I have.
The Note 5 was great out of the box with no noticeable lag whatsoever thanks to Godlike specs and after removing/disabling bloatware it's just that much better.
Check out some reviews on YouTube and see if it's worth upgrading for you, but in my opinion you'd be hard pressed to find a better phone on the market right now.
