Goodbye, M8, it's been a hassle.

To my wonderful, but flawed, HTC One (M8)... or, actually, the 4 that I've had over the last year and a half.

I was there. Release day. I picked the Gun Metal Gray. I said no to the dot cover because it looked stupid. But I got a sturdy case for it and off I went to play with the new flagship HTC.

Great features. Good speed. WONDERFUL sounding speakers. Loved them. Media output to my Samsung Smart TV?? NICE!

Wait. No RGB notification LED? Just Yellow? Wait... it didn't blink at all while charging? Da ****?

When it worked, in worked well.

When it didn't, it didn't badly.

First phone - Boot loop. Replaced.

2nd phone, loose charging port. Constantly slow charging, if at all. Replaced.

3rd phone. Wouldn't upgrade past factory. No upgrade could be pushed to it. Replaced.

4th phone. Current phone. Finally one that works the way it should. But now just don't want it. It's time for an upgrade.

I just can't decide between the S6 Edge Plus or the V10...

Goodbye, Mate, it's been a blast.

2 good choices. I just looked at the V10 this weekend and was more impressed than I thought I'd be. Nice phone

I was in a similar boat. Two M8's and two loose USB ports later and I cut my losses. I went to the G4 and have enjoyed it immensely. I was almost going to pull the trigger on the V10, until I found a way to get the G4 for better than free. They are similarly speced, so I doubt you could go wrong with the V10. I'd never touch a Samsung for personally subjective reasons, but I do feel your M8 pain.

I'd go with the V10 if I were in your position, because like @Mooncatt said, I'd never touch another Samsung after the disastrous S3 and my limited time with the S5.

I've had my M8 since May 2014. I still love this phone, but soon it's time for an upgrade. My next phone will be the Nexus 6P. I've never liked Samsung Galaxy phones. The LG G4 and the V10 are both nice, but I like the constant updates from Google and pure Android.

My first m8 purchased in June 2014. After 3 months got the dreaded scratched camera coating issue. Sent it back.
2nd m8 got the camera scratch issue again. This time cleaned with toothpaste. Then a few months later the power button stopped working.

Now on my third m8 recieved March 2015 everything seems OK on this one. No scratched camera yet. No other issues. Still giving me outstanding battery life 7 hours of on screen time. I've left it on kit kat. Won't update to lollipop. I'm just fed up of force stopping the updater app every few days.

I'm really worried about the power button going again so I use tap to wake to wake the phone. I've installed screen off and lock so I don't have to press the power button every time. I've put a case on that covers the power button so that dust doesn't go in there.

Hopefully this m8 will last a few more years. I do miss my second m8 though. For some reason this had much louder speakers.

I won't be saying goodbye to my m8 anytime soon, I hope.

Went from an M8 that was the bomb (for me), to the Nexus 6P using Project Fi. Love the phone; the carrier not so much.

Odd, We have two M8's and have not had a problem with either. Our older HTC 8x was problem free, and so were our two One Mini's, aside from the microfractures due to the material used. Best battery life of any phone I've had though, as well as best sound.

Just a warning about V10. I went through 2 of them this past weekend. Both suffered from significant backlight and light bleeding from the secondary display. Especially when an app goes into immersive mode. Showed to t-mobile reps and I didn't have to convince them of the problem like I thought I would have to. Went back to trusty M8.

I just ordered the moto droid turbo from verizons cyber Monday thing...50% off. I know it came out LAST winter, but it should still be a great phone !

Mine did the same thing this week. Did you get yours to work? I filed a complaint with the BBB against HTC and hope others are doing so as well. Its not a coincidence that so many charging ports are failing. Mine was 16 months of use and HTC refuses to fix under warranty, stating it is out of warranty and they will not budge.

Have you tried going to your carrier? Do you have equipment insurance? I'm on Sprint and have had the charging port problem and they replaced the phone immediately and recently my vibration motor failed and they sent me a new M9 as a replacement....No extra charge for either.

Is it that bad a device? I've got an S6 and im fed-up of the lag and crashing of chrome, so was considering going to the M8
