Goodlock 2019 Routine bugs...

Ok... I asked this on the Samsung forum and all I got was the sound of crickets in the Darkness... so now, I try here (for a good answer)

Ok, does anyone else have problems with Good Locks Routines failing to work? I have several set up. For instance one for when I arrive at work to drop volume on everything to 40% and when I leave to kick volume back to 100%. At the end of each routine, I have it beep to let me know that it worked. But it only works about 50% of the time. Sometimes it does it, with no beep. Sometimes it does it flawlessly. Sometime it does nothing at all. I have a routine set to make sure my WiFi is on when I get home. OCCASIONALLY, it works.

It seems to be associated with routines involving location. GPS is on, location is set and known.

Device has been rebooted, cache has been cleared (multiple times), routines have been tested, modified, erased and rebuilt and the problem still exists.

Any ideas?

I never used routines, have you checked if there a update? Also have you tried Bixby routines?

I figured you would be the first one to respond. LOL.... Ok, I've checked for updates multiple times. My phone just updated to CSI3 about 2 hours ago. I had this bug before the update and I've no idea if it continues after. I'll find out in the morning when I go in to work.
I've looked at Bixby, and every time I look into "Routines" all I get is "Cannot perform this action". I prefer the Good Lock setup but will take anything that I can get. I'm hoping that the update might help but I have my doubts.

And on another note... Why is it when I try to answer or add to a post on the Android Central App, it won't let me type? I click on the reply field and nothing happens. I have to go get on my computer to reply. App shows 3.1.2 with no updates there either.

yeah, well... my problem was, I had so much problem with Bixby that I've disabled it pretty much. I don't have unlimited data and it was popping up so much and getting in the way, I disabled it. And now, I can't turn it back on. Not that I would really like to. I was just hoping that I could find out why Good Lock was acting up intermittently. When it works, it's perfect. But it's not 100%. Heck, it's not even 50%.
For the past week, it's been really good. Then today, nothing wanted to work on it.

I use the Routines app on an S9, but only to set my DnD times differently for different days of the week. And that's it. Works well for that.

If you are relying on GPS, it could be that.

I use the Smart Lock feature to keep the phone unlocked at home and at work, but sometimes it doesn't unlock automatically even if I've been at either location for a while. It seems that it takes time for the GPS to register the location through the system for other apps to pick up on.

Actually, I think that I have multiple problems. Like I said above, I have a "Beep" configured as one of the steps, just to let me know that the routine has run. Sometimes I get the beep, sometimes nothing. Inconsistent. An irritant, but not critical... I think.

As for the GPS part, i think that you have something there. When I go to work, I have a GPS circle around work to turn my notifications down while I'm in the offices. When I cross that line leaving, it bumps the volume back to full. BUT if I'm in the building and the GPS flickers for a bit (Commercial building, working in a computer room), once the routine has lost the location, it assumes that it is outside the circle and the volume boosts back to full volume.
I use the location setting because I am in and out of the building multiple times every day.

I use the other GPS routine at another job to drop the volume also, but also to Kill my wifi. (one router, no internet access, waste of battery) When I leave that location, volume up, wifi back on. As a backup, when I get home, everything back to normal. Wifi on, Volume to max, with a beep to let me know. But I find my volume at different settings every time I get home. Anything from Full volume to almost muted.

Not really happy with Good Lock Routines. LOL

Is your S9 on Pie?
I had an S10e on Pie and Routines, which I used to add DND times /days on my Oreo Note 9, was no longer part of Goodlock. I tried Bixby Routines, but could not find where to add extra DND profiles.

Do you have your GPS location range below 300m? Routines tells you that if you make the circle smaller it will have trouble.

My S9 is on Pie.

I've set it at 300m, 1000m, 0m. Pretty much the same response. I have most of them set at 500m.

I gave up on Goodlock routines and went the Tasker route. More work? Yep. More customizable? Absolutely.
