I have Assistant but I can't get it to do anything by just long pressing the home button?

When I long press the home button, a screen pops up and ask's "How can I help" and is listening. I've asked it to play a song, it asked which app. I've asked to turn the flashlight on and off. It has also done the normal Google Now things like navigating, as well as answering random questions. It even told a joke when asked. Are you seeing the screen pop up?

When my home screen is on I can long press the small square in the bottom right nothing happens. I have to say OK Google to bring up the prompt.
