Should the notification of a current calendar event, in the notification tray, show the actual date of the event? I've never paid much attention to it, until this morning. As you can see, today is the 14th, but the Google Calendar icon in the notification tray shows the 31st. I've also been getting a Sync error message when I open the Calendar app. Just curious. I've rebooted my phone.

I haven't paid attention but the normal desktop icon changes. Also there is a huge google outage this morning for almost all of their services calendar included.

Thanks for the info, dmxjago. My desktop icon is correct also. We'll see how the day goes, once the outage gets fixed.

I'm pretty sure the new Calendar notification always just displays a 31 inside the calendar symbol. At least ever since they changed the app icon and notification icon.

Thanks, Scott. Never paid attention to it. Would be nice if it did show the actual date of the event.

I just received a Calendar notification at 16:00 and the notification symbol was 31 inside a calendar icon. I'm pretty sure that's just the default icon no matter what day the event is for

In the event it helps, my Pixel 3 (on the December 2020 update) shows 19 in the Calendar app icon. Today is the 19th. I do see the 31 briefly displayed in the icon as the Calendar app is opening, and once the app is opened it displays the current day, e.g. 19th.

Right, that's how my Calendar icon looks and works too. But I believe kmf was asking about the Calendar notification icon that appears in the Notification tray area, not the actual app icon.

Sounds like a good suggestion to send as feedback from within the Calendar app's settings!:)

On my Pixel 3, the Calendar icon displays the current date. Today is the 20th, which shows as 20 in the app's home screen icon and when I search for "Calendar" via the search bar that is at the home screen bottom.

I'm talking about calendar events that are displayed at the top in the Notification tray. It would be nice to see the actual date there.

Thx kmf1, I see the same as you do. Agree that would be a nice feature. My apologies for the churn, I did not understand the problem until now.

Just to help clarify what kmf was describing in the original post. Here is a Calendar notification in my Notification tray, with the red arrow. It displays a standard 31 inside the icon. The calendar app icon, circled in orange, does display the current date.

I also agree that we should make this a recommendation to Google. I doubt they will change it since the notification icon is just a notification, but they might. It would be cool.
