Google Calendar Stops working the moment I open it

So, I recently rooted my phone but didn't load a custom ROM and Google Calendar stopped working. I didn't reverse the root but I did restore to factory settings and deleted everything etc. And Google Calendar still isn't working. I've cleared the data/cache for it, uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and nothing.

Any ideas? If this is in the wrong forum, sorry.

I have not rooted my S5, it has the first OTA on it, not the one just released for 4.4.4

Google Calendar is just about useless, I gave up on it.
went back to my old standby, Yahoo calendar and let it email me notifications
