Google granted me a RMA number after me an my IP were unable to improve my phones reception. I sent in my original N4 after i received my replacement and just called Google asking um when theyd take the hold off my CC. The rep told me that once the phone is received it is inspected, then they determine whether or not the warranty claim is legit, and then they either take the hold off my CC or they change me for a 2nd phone and send back the original phone.

My original N4 was completely stock and in perfect condition when i sent it in. Has anyone, with the same reception issue, had their warranty claim denied by Google? If not i think this may something that people might want to be aware of prior to going the warranty route.

I'm sure this is routine with ANY rma to ensure the customer did not cause the problem, wreck the phone, etc.

Have you spent much time here? :)
Every second thread is "here's the 7 things I purposely did to mess up my phone, how can I hide them so Google won't catch it and give me a new one to mess up?"

Google didn't say anything about denying your warranty, they just said they have to receive the phone and make sure you haven't dropped and broken it, or had any water damage. It's nothing anyone needs to be warned about...it's a great service they provide by shipping you a working phone before you have to send yours in, so you're never without a device. If they didn't put a hold on your card, people would be ripping them off like crazy. The alternative, that nearly every other manufacturer (of anything) in the world employs, is to make you send the broken device in first, then they assess your damage and repair/replace over the coarse of a couple of weeks at best. That would really suck.

That's true if your choice would be to replace it with a new N4 if the repairs are not covered by warranty. However, if you might replace it with a different phone instead of buying a new N4, then Google isn't doing you any favors.

Don't worry. They're not going to deny your claim unless you actually dropped the phone and broke it or submerged it or installed custom ROM (I'm assuming on that last one). If you're telling the truth, they don't care why you sent it in. It doesn't matter whether they test the phone and find that the reception is nominal.

I sent my n4 back with an RMA like 2 months ago. The issue I was having was MMS receiving and sending. Just couldn't get it to work right. It would perform as expected for 3 weeks straight, then decide to stop sending/receiving. Then it would send and receive as if nothing happened. Google told me the same thing about testing it blah blah blah. I was worried they would charge me for the new phone and send my old one back saying there's nothing wrong with it, because the problem was so difficult to recreate. But, they released my cc.
