Google car dock home for DL30

I would like to flash the Google car home application into my current DL30 setup with CWM or find an APK I can install. I found some "gapps" flashes over in the threads at XDA and tried them both. One didn't seem to add anything new, and the other one put the Google car home in but also started a FC loop for some Google process. I did some searching around and found a "com.google.android.carhome-1.apk" that was released in October but when I installed it nothing was added to my apps. I'm not even sure if it is the right one to go with 2.2.1.

Any ideas?

if you have launcher pro, you can long hold on homescreen, and goto shorcut --> activities and find the apk.

it should even come up with the actual car/home logo rather than something generic

NOTE: i had to reboot for the icon to align with others

you also neeed the car home launcher. you have to install them both.

This worked for me. All I did was install com.google.android.carhome-1.apk by placing it on my sd card, and using astro to select and load it.

You are right, nothing will show up anywhere. Long click on your home screen. I have both ADW and Launcher Pro installed on my phone but use ADW. WHen you click on the home screen you choose shortcut --> activities (LP ICON) --> scroll down to Car Home and click the down arrow then click on the 4th choice which should be labeled as CAR HOME with the process name ending in carhome.CarHome.

There will now be a picture of a steering wheel on your screen.
