Google Chrome Keeps Minimising/Crashing

Hello,

I use a Huawei P9 running android version 7.0. I'm not too technical when it comes to phones but I have an issue recently where I load the google chrome browser and click on the screen to search and the app just minimises, it does this every time and I am unable to use the app. I installed firefox and this works fine.

I tried to clear the app cache and data, rollback the updates and re-update but still no luck. I have installed a malware and antivirus app but nothing found.

I haven't tried a factory reset yet but was wondering if anyone has come across this issue before.

Have you tried clearing the entire phone cache? I assume Chrome came preinstalled on your phone? Have you tried safe mode? It's possible another app is interfering with it some how. Did Chrome work without the updates installed?

Was there a phone update or anything else right before it quit working?

Sounds like you already did the basic troubleshooting, I don't personally use Chrome as I find it slow and buggy on my S7 compared to Samsung's browser, but my additional questions/ideas should help pin point a possible problem.

I tried cleaning the entire cache but still no joy also tried starting in safe mode but it did the same thing. As far as im aware there was no update i was just browsing last night and after that it kept minimising so I have no idea whats happened. I looked through some of the apps to see if there was anything i didnt not recognise and tried to remove anything like that.

Yeah I do quite like firefox i just wanted to see what happened with chrome.
