Google Contacts sync issue

I just got my G2 a couple days ago and immediately upon setup and since then, I'm getting a contacts sync error in my Google account. Everything else syncs fine but my contacts (though it's looking like they've all synced. There's a blue sync icon w/ an exclamation in it and at the bottom the same saying "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."

Anybody know why I'm receiving this and how to rectify it?
