Signs are pointing towards Google finally starting to develop their own custom silicon for future Pixel devices, like Apple already does. Since Google has complete control over their Pixel phones, this would allow them to fine tune both their custom chips and Android software to work better together.

I think this is pretty exciting news. Makes keeping my 6p another year that much easier. What are your guys thoughts?

I have trouble staying with a phone more than a year. Heck sometimes its a few months lol. Im an addict hardcore lol.
I'm still interested to see if anyone other than Russia tries to get Linux on a mobile lol.

If they do that perhaps it'll help lengthen the amount of time they support devices with OS updates.

AOSP uses the Linux kernel, in 2011 they were remerged so it's Linux. I assume you're referencing a distribution with a Windows manager interface on mobile, that would be cool, but then you have a tablet, so I'm not sure you'd want that in the phone form factor.

This means I'm definitely going to be getting the Pixel 2 if it has this :D!!

I think it's awesome news (assuming it turns out to be true). There is no doubt that what Apple do with their silicon is what works best.

Thanks for sharing!
