I don't know about you, but with all these leaks rumours about what the big G is announcing on Oct 4th and the amount of effort they are putting into marketing it, I am really really excited about it.

There are a few things, out with the Pixel phones, that really stand out to me. Firstly, the rumour that Google will be launching it's own Eero like WiFi router that uses 2+ small devices to create a mesh network that blankets your house with wi-fi and secondly, that they are removing the Chrome branding from the Chromecast and are seemingly pulling that into Google Home.

Here's what I think might happen. Google Home is intended to unite all your Goog and Smart Home products at home. I think if they release this WiFi router, all your other 'Google Home' devices will add to this mesh network, meaning that anywhere you have a Goog router, Google Home, Chromecast ( and I think there are a lot of people who have these in every TV) you will be strengthening your WiFi connection.

This is incredibly important because our homes are becoming more and more WiFi hungry every where. I also think other companies will be able to create devices that act as Google wifi modules. So potentially Google's smart home partner (Nest, Hue etc) devices will also add to this, so even your thermostats, smoke alarms and light bulbs will add to this. Maybe even your Pixel phone when you're home?

This has the potential to be the best WiFi system available and I don't think it's too far fetched either. Thoughts?

Welcome back! That's a very interesting theory--I could see how Chromecasts could easily become wi-fi hotspots/extenders. It might also be a way for Google to promote more universal wi-fi availability, if they included the ability for each network to broadcast a public hotspot as well (that is completely secure and isolated from the owners' private networks), much like Comcast does with their routers.

I was under the impression that the 10/4 announcement would be Andromeda (i.e., the convergence of Android and Chrome OS), but maybe they have a few tricks up their sleeves!

Hopefully all these products that Google put sells well because google in the past have put out many products that is interested but did not gain traction.

Hopefully. They seem to be putting everything in their power into the marketing of this event and selling themselves as a serious hardware business that can rival samsung/apple.
