Google has ruined the news stand app for me

I was/am pretty far behind on my 2 magazine subscriptions. I used the cached download of issues to track my progress catching up, and would delete the cached issues as I read them, setting the app to only show downloaded issues. This has been removed and it seems you can't cache issues locally anymore. BIG step back in my opinion. I have no idea where I was...

It’s not much of a magazine app if it can’t cache content locally. How are you supposed to refer to past issues or read offline in situations that require it (like during air travel)?

I found a setting (eventually) that controls caching but it seems to be ”current issue or all” with no control beyond that...
