So wondering who actually got a ticket this morning. The servers were acting up and I ended up waiting for 50 minutes (7 different tries) but on the 8th try I finally got it. Would be nice to see if anyone from androidcentral is going.

Would be going but Google wallet timed out on me. I am still waiting for Google to issue something official. At teh very least they owe a very public apology for this. Hell I would argue anyone who was given a chance to purchase a ticket but wallet issues (time out and so on) should at the very least be given the option to get a ticket next year with out having to fight for it. Basically we get a promised ticket.

Google's system needs a massive overhaul.

Yeah, they should have a lottery system where the people that tried one year get to be the first ones to try next year. It sucks that some people have tried every year, yet have come empty handed. It's just demand is so much but there are only 5500 tickets. Hopefully google does something about that.

There are quite a few option Google can do.

One is have 2 IO 2-3 weeks apart. You are only allowed to go to one.

This doubles the number of tickets instantly and does not increase the size of the event. Hell I might like to go to the 2nd one over the first just because it should be lot more dev focus than the first one.

The first thing I think should be implemented is absolutely some sort of requirement to ensure that those attending are developers, those who will truly benefit from the opportunity. It is targeted as a developer conference after all, not a chance to spend some time in San Francisco and get some free toys.

I'm speaking both as an enthusiast and as a developer.
