Update: OK, the app is working now. It didn't work for me in the first ten minutes or so, but now two hours in, I've tried again and it worked.
----------
I downloaded the Google IO app in anticipation of watching the keynote speech. When the time arrived, I opened the app, clicked on the calender entry for the Day 1 keynote speech, got a screen with an embedded video player, and then after a couple of seconds got:

"Unsupported video format"

FAIL

Tried many times with same result. So I opened up Chrome, my browser of choice, went to the Google I/O site, up comes an embedded video player, and after a few seconds appears a message saying that my browser didn't support any of the available video formats.

FAIL

Went back to the standard browser and finally got the video playing after missing several minutes.

Come on Google. Wake up.

Chrome doesn't support flash, never has, never will. That's the reason.

Yes, but Chrome does support other video streaming. I've done it. HTML5 I guess?

The point is. Google IO. Google IO app. Google Chrome. FAIL

I just watched via the I/O app. Worked well.
Hmmm, it's working for me now. All I know is it wasn't working for the first couple of minutes. Even after I got it working through the default browser, I went back to the app and it still said "Unsupported video format". However, now, 2 hours into the keynote, it does appear to be working.

It was the app. It wasn't working for a LOT of people in the beginning. It wasn't your phone.
