It was a total surprise! I would suggest the possibility they're sending a pair to people who ordered from the Play Store maybe, but it would've made more sense to ship them with the phone itself if that were the case.

I joined a bit back, but still haven't been accepted into the FB community - looks like they're a bit overwhelmed, so I'll just wait till they get back to just being.... whelmed (?!)

I received an invite, but figured I had to be on facebook, and I would rather play superman off my roof than be part of facebook. So I guess no socks for me.

(Would have sent them to an ex-work buddy in NC who is an Apple/iPhone junkie so they would have made a nice Christmas present.
