I've been using Google Lens on my phone since it was first available on the market. I use it for a variety of things but now I cannot update it on my p40 Pro.

Are there any AI lens alternatives?

Ooh, so you must be the One. Hehe jk, I'm pretty sure every manufacturer has a version of it, I've seen on Samsunga, Xiaomis and on my P20 Pro. I got the P40 Pro and seems like they've developed it a more, but I don't really use. What do you use it on?

Not that ive ever really used it but Huawei have that built into their camera, works for calories, shopping and QR codes

What you using Google lens for?
I find the camera AI and other effects suit my needs perfectly, and as one of the others mentioned, they seem to have come on leaps and bounds in the past couple years

Yeah Huawei AI Lens is really cool but its easy to miss. When your on you camera app in the top left hand corner there is a circle inside the 4 corners of a square. Click on that and it will take you to the AI Lens tool and ask for permissions etc the 1st time you use it. After that you can use it for loads of things like shopping and calories but its also the easiest way to scan QR codes and do instant translations just by pointing your phones camera at some text.

I only very occasionally use it for QR scanning, the translation thing is pretty cool, I'l admit, but I have never used it personally.

Hi – happy to help here! There are loads of cool AI features within the Huawei camera app, including the AI Lens and HiVision. To access them, go into your camera app and click the button on the top left corner of the screen. From here, you can scan QR codes, translate texts, shop, track calories and identify objects. Let me know how you get on with this!

I used Google lens to identify plants and insects. I saw a beautiful butterfly and Google Lens identified it as found in SE Asia. I'm in southern Mexico. But, it had other butterflies similar. One had a technical name involve Jalapa which is the state north of Oaxaca. Bingo, that was it. More recently, I identified a local variant of Four-O'clocks. I also used it to read codes since all restaurants are going to that.

For me, the Huawei equivalent is worthless. Maybe it's better in China.

Hey did you buy the phone from China? if you did it already comes with something similar.

I got the China version which is global it comes with that function as part of the camera app. It does a lot of things as well you can do calories, bar code scanner and Al Lens.

What I mostly used Google Lens for was identifying plants and insects. It was great. The Huawei version of Google Lens doesn't do that. It will do the QR codes, I think it's QR, and then shopping. I don't shop.

Huawei has many options you have to choose (identify for the lens) that should help.
