I generally keep it off. In my experience, Location History/Location Reporting tends to use more battery (probably due to the increased frequency of wakelocks to access the web and report location to Google). I actually haven't found a huge benefit in terms of Google Now results with Location History on.

How do you disable it?

Press location on your notification shade, then hit Google location history at the bottom, then turn off history. :)

It was off by default. Does it stay off if you select agree to Google location improvement?

Hey! I was just thinking about turning off location history, but was afraid of losing Google Now functionality. Have you noticed any specific changes to gNow functionality since turning it off?

I was wondering the same thing. I have the S6 on Sprint and lost the work/home commute reminders after the first minor update and can't figure out how to get them back. Does location history help with this? I had it off before the update and I still received the work/home predictions.

To be honest, I've never noticed a huge difference in Google Now with Location History turned off vs keeping it on, but it can be hard to tell. I still would get appropriate cards about what's nearby if it's off, but maybe Google Now would have more trouble figuring out my commute. But since my commute is not regular, since my schedule can be erratic, that may not be relevant anyway.

I now have it back on, since Google Fit likes to keep it on, and again, I haven't noticed a marked difference.

For other people reading this thread, it's worth pointing out for clarification that we're talking about Google Location History, and not the overall Location function (the latter being the ability for apps to use GPS/cell signal/wi-fi to determine where you are).
