Google Maps 3D View?

Is there anyway to get Google Maps to show the 3D Navigation view like when in Navigator and like my Garmin Nuvi? I don't want to add a destination, I just want the heads-up view that shows the street names in a 3D-like view as I'm driving. Or at least change Google Maps so travel direction is up instead of North.

I know they just updated maps and I believe it is now possible to do this but I cannot seem to get it to work.

Go to the "Navigation" application, not Maps on its own, then click the top right icon (a gray folded map with a location balloon). It will be the "3D" GPS view and will just follow your position.

There was an update to Google Maps that came out yesterday that should do exactly what you're looking for. After you update, open the Navigation app and you should see an "M" logo at the top right (the screen where it says Search Destination, Speak Destination, etc.).

Make sure your using the "Navigation" application and not the "Navigator"application. I did that after the update then realized it. 3D view works great.

Got it, but when I do and I click and map, it goes to regular map view. I can't get any street options...

You sure you updated GoogleMaps???
Check in the downloads section of the Market app, just to make sure it updated correctly.

I think mine was doing the same thing and didn't actually switch into 3d nav mode until I was actually driving and not sitting at my desk.

I have rebooted and do not see a "3d view"
Can someone post screen caps of both views so I can see if I am just ignorant and what I am seeing is what is expected (view looks just like the normal maps view with traffic layer)

Can't post a screenshot, but it looks just like Navigation after you have put in a destination. Instead of being a birds eye view, it shifts the horizon a bit and is more of a 45 degree angle view from behind your car. Map looks the same, just at an angle.

Are you actualy moving? Mine starts in top down view, and then goes into 3d view when I start moving/driving.
