Google Maps Transit Navigation stopped working

I've been using step-by-step navigation, which are audio directions. However, recently it stopped working for transit. It still works for driving directions. This affects both of my devices.

Someone else has the same problem, and posted a question in Android Enthusiasts.

I've tried restarting my device and clearing the app cache. What are some other troubleshooting steps I can try?

Definitely send feedback to Google via the Map app's settings for now.

You can try clearing its Data then force stop the app , if still the same then try rolling back the maps update and see if it's ok from its previous version.

clear cash and date of google maps app, then restart your phone, it can fix it

Check if the volume for transit directions is turned up or if it's muted in the app settings. Also, try updating the app to the latest version or uninstalling and reinstalling it. If that doesn't help, you could try resetting your device's network settings.

I've sent feedback to Google.

If I tap Settings > Navigation > Play test sound, it plays a test sound, which allows me to hear how loud it is.

The only thing I haven't tried is installing an old version. I'm looking for a tutorial on this.

Long press Google maps>tap info>3 dots upper right corner tap and uninstall the update
