has anyone experienced anything new with google maps using too much data?
usually maps uses about 3-400 MB in a month, all of a sudden since i started using my pixel 6 pro, its used 3.5 GB

i use android auto in the car (maybe 45 minutes total) in a day and thats it, and have location sharing on

but have not had this issue with any other phone, Samsung 21+, Pixel 4XL, pixel 3, etc

I haven't seen that. Try clearing the app cache/data for Google Maps, then force stop it, and see if the problem recurs.

Mines at 218 MB for the last 30 days and I'm probably similar to you by using 45 minutes of Android Auto during that time period.

Thanks, have tried limiting permissions and clearing cache/data
Will monitor for a couple more days and see

Download offline maps while on WiFi. It will really reduce the amount of data maps uses until you figure out the issue. I have a map downloaded that is pretty much all of NJ, all of NYC and a good bit of long Island, a good chunk of NY State to the North, and a bunch of eastern PA. Less than a GB. Updates every month.
