Google Maps Voice

I've searched everywhere and it keeps leading me to one source. Google TTS.

However even when I switch TTS to English UK, everything is still in regular voice.

Anybody know how to change Google Maps voice to something else??

I've tried and tried and tried. Same thing. No matter which voice you set for Google TTS, Maps still has bland, annoying lady.

dang.....that really sucks....

besides Google Maps, is there any other way I can verify if my phone is speaking a different voice?

I know it's not really an answer to your question, but have you tried using Waze instead of Google Maps? It has lots of different voice options, including about half a dozen UK ones. Personally I prefer Waze to Google Maps anyway, thank to its crowdsourced reports of police activity, potholes, etc. Waze was bought by Google a few years back, but I don't know how much technology is shared between the two apps.
