Google maps wont update

On my Evo 4g, I went to the market and checked my apps, right away it went to the update screen and started to download an update for Google maps, however this never happens, it is just frozen in the beginning trying to start, it wont actually begin the download. The graphic is there like it has started, but there is no progress.

Anyone else have this problem, is there a way to force download?

So my friend has an EVO and I am trying to help with a problem that she has on her phone. In the market there are multiple apps that constantly show as updating, Google Maps, Gmail, Adobe, Nascar, Google Search, Football live.. we can not stop the update, it will not complete and it is killing the battery. Anyone else have this happening, know how to change or stop the process??

Dont know whats up but I have had this happen. I just hit cancel fast a few times then it would cancel the update. If it would not stop I would just back out of the market place and that would stop it. then you can manually update. go into market place hit your menu button on your phone and it should show your apps and show manual update.
