Google Messages App

For many years, I've used Textra as my default text app, as I'd heard years ago that the stock app was no good.

I'd read it's improved a bunch, and wanted to try it out.

I don't like my full texts bubble showing on screen when it comes through, so I had it set to only show the name of the person (when unlocked).. on a locked screen it would just give the general icon saying I had a text.

I haven't been able to do the same thing with Messages. Its either extreme. When unlocked, I can get the notification with no information as to who sent it, or I can get the name/message all at once in a text bubble.

Any help with this one?

Thanks

Unless you install a notification 3rd party, nope, no way to change it. Textra is popular beause of its customization options, notification included. Google Messages is basic (a lot better than before and allows you to use web messaging for free and works pretty darn well, not to mention RCS), but it's B A S I C. So the only notification content options are the same as the overall OS: all, title, or nothing.
