Google Messages Archive Oddness

After the last update (SP2A.220305.013.A3) I noticed messages now auto archived text messages I open from the pop-up. That is generally convenient for me, but what I'm seeing as an issue is when sometimes texts me in a group message, it will also unarchive that person's individual text messages from a previous one on one session.

Yes, I'm seeing this happen where I open from the pop-up and the message thread is already in archive. Annoying. Haven't noticed it restoring any individual's thread from archives when they reply in group text.

It didn't unarchive a message for me recently. Got the notification and opened messages but thread wasn't there. Opened from shade and was able to see message.

Not sure if this is a new "feature" or what. Hopefully goes back to unarchiving messages when one is received.

EDIT: Never noticed this before but going in to advanced in messages phone number is shown as unknown and SMSC has a 903 phone number. Messaging does work and my number is listed under chat features.

Yes, I believe that is the number used for encryption. At least on my phone if I turn off RCS my # will show.
