Noticed offer the last updates (not sure whether Messages or OS updates) that the "Gallery" for adding pictures to a G Message is a folder of pictures downloaded from G Messages not the usual Google Photo (ALL) pictures folder???

Anyone else? Its annoying. Once you manuever folders you are only allowed one photo at a time rather than multiples. The work around is sending photos from G Photos via GM

Yes i see that as well very frustrating. I'm on Android 13 beta thought it was because of that. Is this also happening for Android 12?

It looks like there are some extra steps. First tap the camera/photo icon next to the text entry box, then tap the Gallery box, then Folders, then Photos, then Photos again.

Yeah and i don't like the UI as it is now, it looks more like a traditional folder structure vs Google photos beautiful UI.

I've just started using Google messages recently, prior to that was using Chomp sms. The above extra steps are on Chomp so I'm used to them but much preferred the original G messages where you could go straight to Photos to add images...

bump. I'm dealing with this as well

It's a major step backwards as far as I'm concerned. Way too many steps involved to choose/send multiple photos at one time. The only work-around I've found is going into the Gallery app, selecting multiple photos and then hit the Share button, which can take you to Messages, email, Facebook, etc.

I recommend sending feedback to Google about this from the Messages settings menu.

I'll do that. I did file a beta report in the Feedback app, but it won't hurt to send another report via the Messages app.

Good deal, and the more people send feedback about this, the better. I'm sure most people think sending feedback does nothing, but you may be surprised. There have been times where I've sent feedback about something, and before long, the issue was fixed. Was it my feedback that prompted it? Probably not, but if there's a critical mass of similar feedback, that most likely escalates the priority.

I do not like this new "enhancement" at all. I don't mind that you have to go to a folder, but you can only choose 1 picture at a time? That is ridiculous!

And the app has gone wonky in the last few days. I have 2 bug reports filed now. First, random text attaching to the end of received message. Now, MMS failure notices but in the app it looks like it was sent. Look at the recent reviews for the Messages app in the Playstore and other are also having issues. I have been using this app for years with no issues.

The capability of selecting multiple photos from the Google Photos app, and then sharing them to a Google Message, email, Facebook Messenger, etc., works very well. Strange, time consuming, and in-explainable, why you can't do that from within the Messages app itself. Definitely a feature to add...Google.

Or definitely a feature to bring back. It used to be there.....

I believe that Google fixed it. I was able to select more than one photo while in the Messages app. Hooray, and thank you, Google.

That's good to hear. But I tested it and noted that it's still not possible to multi-select photos (i.e., you have to select photos one at a time). Maybe that's just a limitation so that the user doesn't unwittingly surpass the filesize limit for MMS or RCS.

I just selected 4 photos from my Gallery from within the Google Messages app. I am in Beta 13.3 if that makes a difference.

Aha, you're correct! I could've sworn I tried single tapping individual photos, and I thought each tap immediately led to the photo being uploaded to the message. Then I tried long-pressing which did nothing. But now when I single tap each photo in the Gallery view from within the Messages app, it does what you just showed. Thanks for demonstrating it!:)
