Google Messenger won't load contacts

I just hard reset my phone. The default Messages App loads all my account contacts, Facebook and all. However Messenger only loads a couple contacts I've manually added via phone number only (from my Windows Phone).

I can't find a way to manually sync just that App.

Well, I can't even remember how, but after attempting to sync 91 (/sarcasm) different ways, I managed to get all my contact with phone numbers to Sync in Google Messenger. What a PITA. Weird I didn't go through this when I initially used the App.
