Are you on Do Not Disturb? Do other apps give you notifications without difficulty?

Can you show us a screenshot of where you see the sound option greyed out?

Do Not Disurb is off.

Is that one of the preinstalled notification tones, or are you using a custom tone? If the latter, is it saved to Internal Storage or an SD card?

How can I change it?
I guess it came pre-installed.

Are you sure that's the Google Messages app? That icon doesn't look like Google's -- I'm guessing that's the stock SMS messaging app from LG.

Open that messaging app and go to its settings. Is there a notification option there, or does it just link you back to this system settings menu?

You tried resetting the app by clearing data then force stop ?

I cleared the data. It took out the particular sound file, but it is stilled greyed out.
I also rebooted the phone.

This app is on the exclusion list for battery.

Strange something is overriding it there

Go to the system settings, then Notifications, then select the Messaging app. Does it give you the same menu as what you showed above?

If I go to System, Notifications
, Notifications, Messaging is not there.
If I go to System, Notifications, Apps, it's the same.

If I press the three dots, it says Advanced Settings.
Then the Messaging app shows up, but still has the sound greyed out.

The Google Messanger works fine.
I guess I can use that.
By the way, I was able to use the Country Blues sound.
It's an LG sound.
