I have a paid Google Music account and while browsing albums there's a download button. I'm assuming this is for offline listening but where on my phone does it download to?

I've found several articles showing a location for purchased or uploaded music. Even if I didn't purchase the album I've paid monthly and it allows downloads for listening offline so there should be something in a folder right?

Does the note 8 handle this differently?

i am not certain but I think the location is hidden, or at least I've never been able to find it. but yes it downloads to the phone memory for offline listening. and with the paid subscription you can download anything. if you have a memory card I think you can change location to the memory card but again, I don't think you can actually view the files

Hmm I'll have to look into whether I can delete them via Google music that would suck if your storage is full and can't manage these files.

I think the *download* option only allow to listen to the music offline as long as your still paying the monthly fee but not actually put it on your SD card forever

You can set default to SD card and it'll move them.
You can remove what you downloaded from Google play music.

Found this thread,. Not the best. Gets asked as to where it is stored on regular basis. https://forums.androidcentral.com/g...es-android-store-google-play-music-files.html

Download Music from Play Music App. From the settings of the Google PlayMusic, you should set the cache on the external SD card. The location will be /external_sd/Android/data/com.google.android.music/files/music/. be /sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.music/files/music.

ok thanks, I had it set to internal and still didnt see anything. I just switched it to SD and now it's compiling a library of numerically named mp3 files. These could still be purchased and files from my library and not necessarily the ones I "downloaded" via GPM.

I know that I changed mine to store on my SD card. Where on it I have no idea. It will put a red icon on any playlist that is downloaded for offline use. If you go back into the options it will allow you to remove the download. You can also set it to play only songs that are downloaded.
