Google Music Match

Is there a way to tell which songs have been matched by Google Music? I ask because a lot of my songs, well 99.999999%, are either ALAC or AAC. I know prior that Google would re-encode AAC to MP3 meaning it was taking a lossy file and re-encoding it to another lossy format. I have about 18,000 songs I'd like to upload to Google but not with the re-encoding. If I could see which ones are matched I could then pull the ones that aren't.

I don't think it should be an issue, because Google isn't converting your actual music file--it's matching your file to the original 320 kbps MP3 file that Google has, and that's the one that streams.

You misunderstand what I am asking/saying. Yes, when music is matched, it is not re-encoded. When the music is not matched, it is re-encoded to 320 MP3 if it is an AAC file. As far as I can tell, you have no way or knowing which files were matched and which were not.

Sorry, I get it now. Hmm, not sure if there's any way to know.

No problem. My best guess at this point is that there just won't be album art, but I am not too sure about that as other music I had uploaded prior to the match being implemented had some art added. I sent Google an email to their support so maybe next week, hoping with Christmas, that I will here back from them. I really want to use Google Music but I'm not okay with my AAC being re-encoded. I am going through and reripping my music again to ALAC which I can convert to MP3 for Google but I have like 18,000 songs to go through so it is going to take a long time for me to rerip all those CDs.

If you already had album art embedded, then I think it'll upload as well, so that won't be a reliable way to tell what was uploaded vs matched.

if the songs are linked to playstore songs they are matched songs. simple as that.

That is correct. But how do you know which ones were matched?

I heard back from Google. They do not have a way of deciphering which songs have been matched and which have not.
