Google Nexus 10 Two weeks old now won't boot past X

I got my new Google Nexus 10 about two weeks ago. This morning it would not boot past the "X". I've seen a lot of similar problems reported but always when someone has "rooted","reset" or "unlocked" their device. I'm not a hacker and haven't done anything like that. Has anyone got an idea how I can I fix it without losing all my apps and data? If I do need to reset could you please point me to a step by step description of how to do this as I don't want to void any warranty etc. Thanks.
