OK, the N5 phone , will the Google Nexus 5 work on the SPRINT NETWORK ?The N4 phone did not, as I found out.. What does anyone know what Google will produce ?

Everything rumored points to it not being a nexus.
No one knows anything about the Nexus 5 yet. Anything stated is pure speculation.

My opinion, dump Sprint like a rock in the lake. Nexus phones are meant for GSM and International networks, and Google is selling these Nexus phones so cheap, best used on pretty paid plans like Straight Talk, and Go Smart.
You buy the phone outright from Google, go prepaid network = FREEDOM

It's also means horrible network and throttled data in my experience, but that's just me...

I think Google is waiting for LTE to be more widespread. After the Galaxy Nexus and Verizon issues, I don't think Google wants to go down the locked down CDMA route again. Although Sprint is leaps and bounds ahead of Verizon in terms of updating the Nexus line. Also it looks like Google wants just one Nexus, that works on the most amount of networks world wide, makes it easier to support and update. Also helps keep costs down so they can sell them at $299/$349 off contract, which I would imagine Google wants to stay at so more people will want to buy them over the Galaxy series, Droid line, and such.
That is why I use mine on T-Mobile, have the option of truly unlimited data for $70 a month. Works great if you have good service.
If you travel, that is not a good option for the reason you say - "if" you get good service.
You can use it on the AT&T and the $65 unlimited talk &text with 1gb data. There are also cheaper plans on AT&T as well. Get better coverage but with slower speeds and hard caps.

Exactly why it's a nonstarter for me: good coverage isn't optional and running crippled on the national network ranked worst in the US for customer service doesn't offset that.
