Google Nexus 6 I know megapixels aren't everything, but...

... I see that the Nexus 6 has the same 13 MP shooter that the Moto X (2nd gen) has. I own a Moto X (2nd gen) and while I love the phone in general, I find the camera very frustrating and erratic (coming from an iPhone 5, where taking in-focus pictures was a breeze). I keep hearing that the software driving the cameras (Lollipop or some Moto update specific to the camera?) might make a big difference- what are the odds of that? Has that happened before? I would really like to have some hope that this camera might someday function better, and if I were buying a Nexus 6, I would be similarly concerned...

Thanks in advance!

From what I have heard, the Nexus 6 actually has a newer Sony camera sensor, like the one on the OnePlus One, and the Find 7. I'm not absolutely positive about that; however, it is very likely so.

It is NOT the same camera. Just because both phones are made by Motorola and have a 13MP camera does not mean the sensor is the same. The sensor in the Nexus 6 includes OIS and is a newer model than the one in the X 2014.

It could still suck, but regardless, it isn't the same.

The Nexus 6 has an F 2.0 aperture while the Moto X is F 2. 25. This change alone can create a major impact in image quality. The lense on the Nexus 6 is faster and allows more light in than the Moto X.

If you aren't happy with a camera I wouldn't hold your breathe for software updates to make the camera better. Almost every Moto I've ever owned, that is the sentiment right after the phone is released, oh they will make the camera better with software updates. I've never seen software updates make a big difference in the quality of pictures the camera takes..
