Think this will be an issue for the N9?

Based on the treatment of the nexus 7 LTE not getting L previews and seeing delays in updates, presumably because of carrier involvement, I'm personally going with a Wi-Fi version this time.

Also consider the CPU in this thing, being quite a bit different from everything else out there I would presume ROM support will lag for the N9 for quite some time. I'm thinking this will limit other avenues of getting updates as well.

Re: LTE model and delayed updates?

ROM support shouldn't be an issue, because the source code is freely available for developers to work with. Up to date kernels will be available.

My theory behind the delay for 3G/4G tablets is that the Wifi version takes priority during development and the radios take a little longer to test throughly after each update. The Nexus devices aren't necessarily tied to carriers (you can purchase LTE versions from google or other retailers), so they can't really exert any control.

Edit: I would expect LTE models to get delayed updates as well compared to Wifi models, not necessarily because they are holding it back, but because it is not ready to their satisfaction.

I really hope ROM support isn't too difficult for developers, I really like using them.
